BallinStadt Emigration Museum Hamburg

From 1850 to 1934 alone, more than 5 million people emigrated to the New World via the Port of Hamburg. On this historic site three pavilions were reconstructed inside the former emigration halls where the stories, hopes and dreams of these people are brought back to life. The award-winning concept of BallinStadt Emigration Museum features interactive elements, multimedia theme stations and more than 1,500 original exhibits in an area totaling 2,000 square meters. Another highlight of the BallinStadt exhibition is the in-house family research centre where all visitors can search for their ancestors.

  1. Looking for info on ancestors who left Hamburg on the Queen Bee in 1872. Names Anton Heidler or Jaeler or Sirla; Veronica Brehm or Fororaker Braham. They came from what is now the Czech Republic/Bohemia. I would like to know what names they left Germany with and if there is info on their home villages and their parents’ names.
